I don't buy this crap Mendis is not a one trick pony as some are making him out to be, I strongly believe he will be a success in the long termPossibly. However, with years and years of Test cricket, surely someone has been there quicker. Plus, when batsmen work him out, he's fricked.
Wow Alderman in 8 I thought he was only good for the English summers.Quickest since the turn of the 20th-century is Alf Valentine, Rod Hogg and Terry Alderman in 8 Tests. Highly unlikely anyone will manage to beat the 5 Tests Charles Turner managed, as wickets are now better for batting than they were in his day, without fail.
Tom Richardson, another 19th-century bowler, managed it in 7 Tests and "Demon" Fred Spofforth also managed it in 8.
Can he manage it in 7 or less? Who knows.
The first 6 Tests and 42 wickets were during an English summer.Wow Alderman in 8 I thought he was only good for the English summers.
It took Turner six Test matches to claim 50 wickets, not five.Highly unlikely anyone will manage to beat the 5 Tests Charles Turner managed, as wickets are now better for batting than they were in his day, without fail.
aha...that explains it.The first 6 Tests and 42 wickets were during an English summer.![]()
Haha yes oops I guess it would be easier to play tests against them if they had current test status.Zimbabwe.
Let's hope not.
Amazes me that so many normally knowledgeable people so regularly add a "s" on the end of my name for no reason.Richards
