Fastest bowler in the world today?

Steyn has generally bowled below 90mph in the current Lord's Test. I suspect that he may be outpaced by Jimmy Anderson today.

slingers may generate more speed form the speed gun ,but tall fast bowlers like morkel
sharma are quicker on to batsman so either sharma, morkel is the fastest

It was 161kph and that was not supported by the two support guns and so was refuted but Steyn's reading was obviously supported by such otherwise it would not be so widely regarded as Steyn's quickest ball.

speed guns sometimes so haywire, steyn has ability to touch 150 but nothing more,he does not have the build for that

Three speed guns, which is the norm, do not all go haywire and register the same reading. If they did, skysports would not have accepted it as his top speed in the pre-match build up.

I'd say Tait if he's fit and playing.
Was my thought upon reading the thread. I can't imagine many will be quicker, presuming Tait does get back into the game.

Tait is like the Arthurs\Sampras\Philippousis of bowling, for mine. Even his slow stuff is generally sharp by normal standards. Seen the opening ball of his spell be a 89mph inswinger before now.

Pretty sure it was a sign that he was incredibly depressed, actualy.

As for the pace argument, I've heard people say Steyn but i've never seen him bowl quicker than Lee or Tait have done,
Incredibly depressed? I heard nothing about that. I thought he just needed a break from the game, was finding the lifestyle exhausting etc. Fair enough, he can do what he likes. Was disgusted by Boycott's comments on his 'lack of character'.

The point was, it had nothing to do with Australian supremacy.

Particularly given the sympathy he'd expressed for Trescothick when he fell to a similar plight.

Not to mention his own similar situation 30 years ago.

I quite like Shaun Tait, has to the potential to be seriously good, would love him to play for England, we could do with someone like him.

Debatable, IMO. Tait certainly has some rare skills (95mph inswingers - to both right- and left-handers - is not something that many batsmen will keep out for too long) but he also has a good few considerable flaws. Inaccuracy (wild inaccuracy of times) and injury-prone-ness are a couple.
