Top Five Cricketers from each country

The general casual opinion would probably have Warne at 2nd in both formats. Nothing wrong with this I think. He had a full length odi career and didn't chuck. CW is a bit harsh on him in odis, particularly considering the lack of competition.
Gilly , McGrath , Bevan , Ponting , Symonds .. all twice better than Warne in ODis

Not as spinners.

And in terms of being closest to GOAT at a job, you can only really make a case for McGrath and maybe Gilchrist, whether or not you rate the others as better players.

Brett Lee is an all-time great ODI bowler,
handy lower order batsman and a brilliant fielder.
I don't think Lee making it to the final 4 is absurd.
He really isn't. You could always count on Lee going at 6s or more in the death overs, in an era where that didn't happen a great deal;. Bloke is one of the most over rated ODI bowlers ever.

And Lee > Watson
Watson is probably the most reviled Australian cricketer ever among the casual observers. His ODI record barely rates a mention, everyone just remembers him under performing for his ability in tests, and constantly referring plumb lbws.

Lee is way better, both as a cricketer and a person, than the other Australian pacer called Brett of that era

Then again, a steaming turd would be better than that Brett

I think he's referring to Brett Geeves.

Which is a pretty low bar for an international bowler who took 300 plus test wickets to jump over tbh.

I'd prefer Fleming and Reiffel in an XI over Binga, for tests or ODIs. He was an expert at getting hammered by the good batsmen then bounce-yorking out a number 10 before celebrating like an idiot

People so easily forget how unplayable Brett Lee was with the new white ball. No one compares to him from that era, except maybe a firing Shane Bond

Brett Lee was a very good white ball bowler and deserves to be in consideration for the Australian AT side.

But there's no way he was as good as the players he beat in this poll. Should have been knocked out in round 1.

GOAT Leg spinner - Warne

GOAT spinner - Murali / Saqlain

Others mentioned are closer than Warne to GOAT status
Gilly - only one Competitor DHONI
Ponting - Viv
McGrath - GOAT Medium fast bowler. ( Arguably GOAT bowler )
Bevan - Dhoni
Symonds - Watson , Jayasoorya

This idea that McGrath was a medium-fast bowler is propagated by people whose balls haven't dropped yet, because they plainly never saw him bowl before about 2004-2005.

McGrath was still up around 140ish in the 1999 World Cup. It was later on he began to slow up, but by then he well and truly had built enough of a skillset to compensate for a drop in velocity

Yeah, Damien Fleming was excellent in the late '90s. IIRC he was the only one who escaped slaughter in '98 when Sachin went bananas against Australia.

Fleming, Reiffel, in the 90s and Bichel later were all really good bowlers who'd have played many more tests if they hadnt been Australian.
