I rate them very highly as one dayer players. Both Sehwag and Afridi for instance have the 4th and 5th most runs in that format respectively however with a higher strike rate than the top three.
Nope. You're wrong
They are the 25th and 27th

Could be wrong, but I have a feeling he could mean ODI sixes hit. Aren't both Afridi and Sehwag in the top 5 or so in that?

The issue I have with this is that there is only one Australian. They've won 4 out of the last 5 world cups. How can they be so poorly represented?

Tendulkar
Gilchrist+
Richards
Ponting*
De Villiers
Bevan
Symonds
Warne
Akram
Garner
McGrath

Warne is mostly ahead of Murali and Saqlain for his batting. McGrath was a big game bully. His world cup record is phenomenal.

Garner and Akram round out a nasty bowling attack, with part time overs provided by Symonds and Bevan.

ABDV has moved ahead of most other pure batsmen in my mind. Ponting is extremely underrated and his fielding lifts him that extra level. Tendulkar and Gilchrist the best choice of openers. Gilly offers Jaya's explosive opening with excellent keeping. Dhoni unlucky to miss out but Bevan was a better batsman/finisher and Dhoni doesn't offer anything with the gloves that Gilchrist doesn't surpass.

Symonds the most underrated all rounder in ODI cricket. Could bowl both seem up or spin, had a very healthy batting average and was a great hitter/finisher. He was also a beast in the field, which is massively important in ODI cricket.

Viv and Tendulkar need no explanation and are inked in first.

While I agree the Australians you named are all worthy of a spot in an AT XI, I don't think they necessarily deserve a spot just because the team won more WCs.

Yeah, well not just played in, but I'd say if they performed at the business-end of them, ie. the final itself. That that carries a decent amount of weight.

My point was that it's a little absurd to not include many players (hb included one Australian but 3 Indians and an English man) from the most dominant team in the 40 years that ODI cricket has been running. And Warne was only in one successful world cup campaign. He also had Murali and Saqlain who were arguably superior than him.

My team has two controversial calls - Symonds as the all rounder and Gilly/Bevan over Jaya/Dhoni. Kluesener, Cairns, Kallis and Watson all could replace Symonds and Gilly+Bevan vs Jaya+Dhoni is a coin flip. But given they're the pinnacle of the sport, world cup results tip the balance.
