Shame it's two years from being used in anger, but hopefully this is the beginning of the end of the chucking era.

Hopefully in twenty years kids will view vids of the like of Ajmal or Botha and say "How the feck did they get away with that?!"

Gadget needs to be patented in the subcontinent or there'll be the inevitable conspiracy theories arising.

No there won't.

Good development. Science > 2D arm armchair TV experts. Looking forward to it.

So, if real time results can be produced, would you want every ball over 15 degrees no-balled? Probably the only way it can work, isn't it?

If it's that quick (and not analysed at the end of the day), it'd be ideal. Just like overstepping - immediate no ball.

Yeah I reckon that's the way to do it. uvelocity is right though about different ways of measuring throwing - can you pick up hyperextension with just two sensors? Maybe you can, I don't know.

Will be as much of a political football as udrs so we probably won't see it until 2020.

I know the article says otherwise, but I'm sure if it can measure the flex, it can also measure the straightening and hopefully that's what is used.

Seems a pretty sound concept, though I have no doubts at all it's going to dish out some surprises.

I honestly don't think it's going to reach this point for a while. Far too complex for an automated system. It'll be a tool for the match referee/some other official to use and keep tabs on, and warnings etc can be handed out on when he/she thinks the evidence against the "bowler" is damning enough.
