Cricketing Clichés

King Pietersen

International Captain
"Oh, it's out of the here. It's out of the ground; no he's caught it" - Bill Lawry

"That's it. Start the engines" - Bumble after the winning runs/wicket of every bleedin' game
It's actually "Start the car", he has used "Launch the Pedalo" in the past as well, used it a few times in the world cup to good effect.

"He played down piccadilly and it were on the bakerloo line" Another of Boycs' over-used phrases.

PhoenixFire

International Coach
"He's coming wide of the crease (the bowler). That is good intelligent bowling."

No you moron, it is the obvious thing to create variation.

Redbacks

International Captain
Usually comes out on Boxing day or in Sydney:

They're such a knowledgeable crowd in ......

(bay 13 :sniggers: )

There's a new variation when Perth pitches turn out to be featherbeds nowadays:

"This isn't the WACA wicket of old..."

usually coupled with a reference to Lillee & Thomson charging in.

GIMH

Norwood's on Fire
"On his day Steve Harmison is the best, most destructive fast bowler in the world"

Just been treated to a couple or three hoary old tropes:

"A bit agricultural" - huge slog

"Not where he intended" - edge for four

"A genuine number eleven" - Nikita Miller's batting is sub-crap.

Daryl Harper

School Boy/Girl Captain
Just been treated to a couple or three hoary old tropes:
"A genuine number eleven" - Nikita Miller's batting is sub-crap.
Yep, twice. Both commentators felt the need to say versions of it.

Such and such went "Inside out" is another one that irks me.

He's got a First Class 86 to his name!!!
I think it was used to describe Lionel Baker (FC best 26, List A best 8 before today), rather than Miller.
Yeah, got me tailenders mixed up.
Don't lump Miller in with Baker please.

State Vice-Captain
I can't remember it word for word, but another Chappelli cliche:

"I can't understand why "insert more often than not non-Australian captain name" is using the light roller. I can walk over the pitch and it does the same job."
