ICC agrees to change Oval forfeiture to a draw

http://content-usa.cricinfo.com/ci-i...ry/359329.html

I disagree with this. If you are going to make a principled stand, you have to deal with the consequences. If you refuse to come out to play, forfeiture is the only route that can be taken. This is independent of whether Hair is wrong, or right, or whether what Pakistan did was wrong or right. If you don't come out to play for any reason, you lose the game, even if what you did was for the proper reasons.

So the ICC caves in to pressure wrongly and their excuse is based on a decision where they also caved in wrongly and we'll probably never hear what actually happened.

Ridiculous decision.

Regardless of whether Pakistan tampered with the ball or not, they most certainly forfeited the match.

Ind33d.

About the only good to come of this is that a ridiculous result will be more accurately reflected, and it will remain the case that there's never been a Test won by forfeit. But the danger is that not coming out to play will now be "OK"d.

Pretty pathetic decision, what exactly does it acheive? A forfeit was and is a fair reflection of what happened - Pakistan refused to play.

ICC has taken many poor decisions in the past but there cant be many as pathetic, ridiculous and completely pointless as this one.

Why ???????

You would think the PCB have more pressing matters to attend to then ‘lobbying’ the ICC to change a result of a game which in the grand scheme of it all means nothing.

I doubt it - the ECB were as in favour of the change of result as the PCB were.

Absurd.

If the series was on the line I doubt they would have come to this decision.

Does this mean Asian teams can just pull out of matches against Enland whenever they are losing from now on?

The ICC is a joke, this decision doesn't really matter at all, but i find it totaly incomprehensible that anybody- even someone incompetent enough to work for the ICC- could possibly think this is the right decision.
