This is assuming Australia manage to bat for more than 45 overs in their 2nd dig. And physically tbe effect of bowling 200 overs or so could pay dividends for England down the line, which is why I favoured batting again.

edit: if we're talking psychology then a young opener getting his first Ashes hundred > smashing Australia in 3 and a half days.

Yeah this is actually fair enough. You'll see him play better innings (I hope) and he still has a lot to prove but he's done all you could have asked of him here.
