Canada forfeit due to illness

In unprecedented and highly unusual circumstances, Kenya were awarded their Tri-Series clash with Canada today by default, after their opponents forfeited the match due to not being able to raise a full playing eleven.

Five of Canada?s fifteen man squad were ill with a stomach virus, leading Canadian officials to request a cancellation from match referee Javagal Srinath. It is thought that a lack of acclimatisation from sub-zero Canada to the searing tropical heat of Kenya may have contributed to the sudden onset, which has also apparently affected two players from the Scotland squad.

The cancellation will have come as a disappointment to many Kenyan schoolchildren who had been expected to be present in Mombasa. Kenya will take on Scotland at the same venue tomorrow, which is expected to go ahead as scheduled.
