Vincent set to quit New Zealand

South Australia could soon be set to announce current Black Caps opener Lou Vincent as its international recruit for the 2007/08 season.

Vincent has played 97 one-day internationals and 22 Tests for New Zealand and it is believed he would have to give up international cricket if he accepted the position over the Tasman.

An Adelaide newspaper, The Advertiser today reported that the South Australian Cricket Association was in serious negotiation and Vincent was “strongly leaning” towards a move.

Vincent spent six years in Adelaide from age 12-18, but returned to New Zealand to represent the New Zealand under-19 team in 1997.

A South Australia spokesperson Jenny Turner denied the report however saying “This sort of thing happens every year during the contract negotiation period. We have said nothing about any player and the contracts won’t be finalised until early June.”
