Vaughan backs down over Flintoff

Michael Vaughan has backed down over his comments on Andrew Flintoff telling media that it has been “blown out of all proportion”.

Vaughan told The Guardian that “It’s a bit baffling. It’s a great story but the reaction has been amazing. If anyone is to blame for the World Cup it was me, not Andrew.”

Vaughan went onto say “I’ve never pin-pointed any one player in the whole time I’ve been England captain – I never will do that. I never would point fingers at any one player and say they were to blame for a World Cup. It was a team effort – the team wins, the team loses.”

Vaughan looked to down play the issue completely by continuing on to say “I’m sure (Flintoff) was not best pleased when he read the stories. But we are good mates.”

Flintoff is currently out of all cricket due to having undergone an operation to correct his problematic left ankle.
