Tour Match ends in tame draw

The three-day tour match between Sri Lanka A and South Africa has ended in a draw after the tourists declared their second innings at 245-8 leaving Sri Lanka A the impossible task of scoring 549 runs in the final session.

South Africa started the day at 45-1 and consistently lost wickets throughout their second innings as they looked for quick runs.

AB de Villiers was the shining light scoring 75 off 106 balls, and was supported well by stand-in captain Jacques Rudolph who batted at number eight and managed 58 off 119 balls before the innings was declared at 245-8.

Upul Chandana was the pick of the Sri Lanka A bowlers taking 3-80 while Nuwan Zoysa took 2-29 and Jehan Mubarak 2-44.

The final session saw Sri Lanka A work their way through to 89-1 off 20 overs before play was called off early. Nicky Boje took the single wicket to fall having the Sri Lankan A captain Avishka Gunawardene stumped for 37.

South Africa now prepare for the first Test starting on Thursday at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground in Colombo.
