Three week rest ahead for Akhtar

Shoaib Akhtar has been told by a Pakistan board medical commission that he shouldn’t bowl for three weeks due to his continued injury problems.

Heavy swelling was located around Akhtar’s ankle and at least three weeks rest is required before medical staff can again look at the injury.

The Pakistan Board are still waiting to receive medical reports from South African specialists on his injury, but it is already extremely unlikely that Akhtar will be ready to go with the team to England at the end of June.

The Pakistan squad for the England tour where four Test matches and five one-day internationals will be played will be announced this weekend.
