Styris likely to be fit

Scott Styris is expected to be fit and tour with the Black Caps for the Champions Trophy in India next month.

Styris has been suffering from a back injury he sustained during his time with England county side Middlesex, but New Zealand Cricket are now confident that he shouldn’t have to undergo any official fitness tests.

Linsday Crocker, the Black Caps manager told Newstalk ZB that the injury will be treated and will be worked through as though he’ll be fit to play.

Crocker went on to say that there will come a time when a decision will have to be made on whether he tours or not, but they’re confident he will be fit to take his place within the squad.

New Zealand’s Champions Trophy campaign starts on 16th October against South Africa at the Wankhede Stadium.
