Stress fracture for Vettori

Daniel Vettori has received the worst possible news, with a scan confirming a stress fracture in his back forcing him to return to New Zealand for treatment, after only playing one game for his county side Warwickshire.

Vettori’s latest back injury continues his tread of back injuries throughout his career, with him first suffering the injury on the Black Caps tour of Australia in 2000.

Black Caps Manager Lindsay Crocker said Vettori?s back has required two to three months recovery in the past and with the Black Caps next series not until October with the Champions Trophy in India, there is plenty of time to ensure a good recovery programme.

Vettori joins Shane Bond, Kyle Mills and Michael Mason who all have significant injuries and who are also currently under-going rehabilitation programmes.
