Sinclair looking overseas

Mathew Sinclair is considering his options after missing out on a NZC contract for the next 12 months and is unlikely to remain in New Zealand.

Sinclair and Andre Adams were the only players to miss out on a contract from last year’s player contract list, with Gareth Hopkins and Mark Gillespie gaining their spots.

Sinclair told the NZ Herald that “Obviously, with the big workload of tests ahead, it did surprise me.” New Zealand have Test series against South Africa, England and Bangaladesh within the next 12 months.

Sinclair went onto say “I thought if I was the incumbent, possibly they would carry on with me. As I’ve just found out, nothing’s guaranteed. I’d love to be able to carry on here, but deep down I feel that’s it for me.”

Sinclair has one of the better New Zealand Test records averaging 35.31 from 27 Tests with three hundreds and four fifties including two double hundreds against the West Indies and Pakistan.
