Simon Jones misses Pakistan tour

Simon Jones will miss England’s upcoming tour of Pakistan after failing a fitness test on his ankle injury today, that he picked up during The Ashes.

Peter Gregory who is the medical officer of the ECB said Jones would now have to face surgery on his ankle to correct the damage sustained.

Gregory talked about the road ahead for Jones in saying “We have tried a number of measures to help Simon’s ankle injury to settle, but these have been unsuccessful and we are left with no alternative but to operate”. “There should be sufficient time for Simon to regain fitness and hence become available for selection for the tour to India beginning in late February.”

There was even more bad news for England with Chris Tremlett still struggling to recover from his knee injury and he could also be ruled out of the tour leaving England struggling in the pace bowling department.

The Pakistan tour starts on 31st October with the tourists playing a three day warmup game. During the tour, England play 3 tests and 5 ODIs against Pakistan.
