Pietersen or Flintoff to open?

England’s chairman of selectors David Graveney has told media that they are considering opening the batting with Kevin Pietersen or Andrew Flintoff in the Champions Trophy.

Graveney said at Lord’s that attacking the first 10 overs of the innings is going to be the critical part of the game, and without Marcus Trescothick and Michael Vaughan, there are options open at the top of the order.

Graveney went on to say that Sri Lanka have set the standard in going after the bowling in the first 15, 20 overs and it is an area that we should look at exploiting too.

England’s first match of the Champions Trophy is against India on 15th October at Jaipur.
