Moody & Nielsen the favourites

Tim Nielsen and Tom Moody are starting to appear as clear favourites to take over from current coach John Buchanan when he retires.

Bunchanan has said he will not look to renew his contract when it expires after the World Cup in the Caribbean next March/April.

A Cricket Australia (CA) committee including former captains Mark Taylor and Allan Border will discuss the applicants, with Ricky Ponting understood to have the deciding vote on who the new coach should be.

CA are also expected to contact Greg Chappell (India), Bennett King (West Indies) and Dav Whatmore (Bangladesh) about their availability for the job.

An announcement on the new coach is expected in February next year.
