McMillan misses out on selection

Craig McMillan’s slide in New Zealand Cricket continues after he wasn’t considered to be in the top 30 players in the country for the Champions Trophy in October.

Black Caps coach John Bracewell said McMillan who last played for New Zealand against Australia last December was ommitted “because of concerns about his fitness”.

Bracewell did however say that it doesn’t mean McMillan is out of the running for the World Cup next year, but he “will need to focus his efforts” if he is to make a return.

Chris Harris has been thrown a life line after being selected, although he is unlikely to make the final squad of 14 which is named on September 7th.

The squad contains seven players who have yet to play for the Black Caps. They are Mark Gillespie, Nathan McCullum, Peter McGlashan, Warren McSkimming, Mark Orchard, Jesse Ryder and Bradley Scott.

Daryl Tuffey and Ian Butler weren’t considered due to injuries.

New Zealand start their Champions Trophy campaign against South Africa in Mumbai on October 16.
