Hair turns down ECB

Darrell Hair has turned down an offer from the England and Wales Cricket Board to be on the reserve umpires list for the 2007-08 season.

The ECB released a statement on Hair turning them down saying “The England and Wales Cricket Board has been informed by Darrell Hair that he is unable to accept their offer to be a member of the ECB reserve umpires list for the forthcoming season. The ECB acknowledges Mr Hair’s contributions in the previous two seasons as a reserve umpire.”

Hair is currently involved in taking legal action against the International Cricket Council and the Pakistan Cricket Board for alleged racial discrimination over the ball-tampering row at The Oval last year and what followed with Hair being removed from the umpire’s elite panel.

Hair’s last international umpiring appointment was during the recent ICC World Cricket League Final between Kenya and Scotland in Nairobi.
