Habibul Bashar out for 4 weeks

Bangladesh captain Habibul Bashar has been ruled out of the remainder of the Zimbabwe tour, as well as the following Kenya tour next month, from a broken thumb.

Bashar injured his left thumb during the second ODI against Zimbabwe, which the hosts won to level the series 1-1, while trying to catch Vusi Sibanda. A diagnosis has revealed that it would take up to four months for the injury to heal, thus sidelining the skipper for the time being.

In his stead, wicket-keeper Khaled Mashud will take over the captaincy, for the remaining three ODIs against Zimbabwe, and three against Kenya thereafter.

Although Bashar won’t be playing, he will not be flying back home; he will remain with the team.
