Gul returns from injury

Pakistan fast bowler Umar Gul has recovered from the ankle injury that forced him out of Pakistan’s recent tour of South Africa.

It had been feared that Gul had fractured his ankle which would have ruled him out of the World Cup.

The Pakistan Cricket Board has set a date of 28th February for all 15 players in the World Cup squad to pass fitness tests.

Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Asif have yet to complete their fitness tests with both players still recovering from injuries.

Akhtar is set to leave for England on Sunday for a final check up on his knee and hamstring injuries.

Gul said on his injury that “it was disappointing to miss the South African tour but it motivated me to work hard with trainer Murray Stevenson and I am now bowling from my full run-up and hope by the time the World Cup starts I will be fully fit.”

Gul went onto say “we have two warm-up matches and hopefully they will give me the needed match practice and then I will be able to deliver for my team.”
