Government pays NZC $406,000

The New Zealand Government have agreed to pay New Zealand Cricket (NZC) $406,000 after months of negiotiation as a result of lost revenue from the cancelled Zimbabwe tour in December.

The government denied the Zimbabwe cricketers entry visas in protest at human rights abuses by Zimbabwe president Robert Mugabe.

NZC were fearful at the time that the decision could have cost them millions in being fined by the International Cricket Council for withdrawing from a tour without cause.

Zimbabwe are next scheduled to tour New Zealand in 2011/12 .
