Franklin to miss county season

James Franklin has been forced to pull out of his contract with English county Glamorgan after a scan showed a knee cartilage tear.

Franklin was one of New Zealand’s success stories in Test cricket over the New Zealand summer taking eight wickets at an average of 39 against the West Indies and 15 wickets at an average of 25.60 against South Africa.

Franklin’s big improvement was with the bat however where he averaged 31 against the West Indies and 56 against South Africa, which included a maiden test century in the 2nd Test at Newlands, Cape Town.
