Chris Martin leaves Canterbury

Black Caps fast bowler Chris Martin is moving to play for the State Auckland Aces next season after his partners job transfer forced him away from the Canterbury Wizards.

Chris Martin has played for Canterbury since the 1997/98 season and has taken 136 first-class wickets at an average of 28.36 and 82 one-day wickets at 24.98.

Canterbury Cricket CEO Richard Reid commented that “He has been an outstanding contributor for Canterbury, but I understand his reasons for shifting and we wish him well”.

Chris Martin made his debut for New Zealand in the 2000/01 season and has taken 76 test wickets at 35.59 while he has had limited opportunities at one-day international level taking five wickets at 54.00.
