Anderson out of Sri Lanka series

James Anderson has been officially ruled out of all cricket for two months after a scan revealed a stress fracture of the lower back.

This rules Anderson out of the upcoming Sri Lankan series, although he could manage to make it back for the later part of the ODI series against Sri Lanka in late June/early July.

England captain Michael Vaughan, fast bowler Steve Harmison and spinner Ashley Giles have already been ruled out of the first Test which starts at Lord’s on May 11, while Simon Jones is set to have an MRI scan on his injured left knee within the next few days.
