Both Klusener and Flintoff in the same team weakens the team tbh. IIRC Klusener batted at 8 even in 99. Bevan instead of one of the two makes more sense

Klusener was as good as a specialist bat and one of the few batsman of the 90s who was good at both constructing a partnership as well as hoicking sixes.
If I replace one of them with Bevan , it will reduce the bowling strength by a considerable margin

He'd have got in any ODI team in his day. It's not a looking back thing. On CW circa 06 the feeling was that he was overrated in Tests (he wasn't but that's another story) but a legit world-class ODI all-rounder.

I guess his 07 WC goes against him and maybe he doesn't hit the heights for long enough to be considered an ODI ATG. But he was fantastic in the format.

Honestly this is one too many bowlers. Drop Flintoff and pick someone to bat 6 and you have a great side. I'd pick Garner over Starc though.

Super handy bat.

I am never putting him im my atg team, because I think there are better ways to fine-tune the balance, but I think there he is arguably a better player than guys i would stick in my atg team.

The trouble with Flintoff is that he was best batting no 5 in ODIs where he was very good (53 matches) but he keeps getting picked at no 7 in these atg teams. That is like picking Shakib, Stokes, or Cairns at 7 when they batted higher.

Flintoff was really, really good for about 2 years but other than that, meh. Around 2004 he was one of the best ODI bats in the world, batted no. 4 for England IIRC.
However I would take Watson over him every day of the week and twice on Sundays, regardless of the role you want filled.

He is the bowler with most competitors. McGrath and Pollock mainly and the former is a better bowler and latter the better player. Also Ambrose and Hadlee are not far behind too.

Akram has only faint competition in the form of from Starc. Murali has faint competition from Saqlain.
