Who would be more threatening to Sehwag, Asif or Steyn

Was watching some old highlights of Asif against Sehwag and Asif on a couple of occasions i saw managed to beat Sehwag with the one that came back in.

So, i started thinking who would be more threatening to Sehwag Steyn or Asif, considering everyone's current form in Test Cricket....

Neither if the pitch is flat. Both of them if there is something in it for the bowlers.

They're two completely different players tbh, I would love to see Asif more in full-flow, but Steyn tbh normally. To Sehwag, probably Asif because he has the brains to Steyns pace.

Both would own Sehwag if there was something as much as slight in favour for the bowlers, but both would get owned if it's a featherbed.

Asif is one of the best flat pitch bowlers in the world so Sehwag in that case, otherwise Steyn.

I'd probably say Asif since he can move the ball on different kinds of tracks as opposed to Steyn who relies on brute pace a lot of the time.

Steyn averages around 20 in the subcontinent which has thrown up quite few flatbeds in the recent past.

Both are first rate bowlers, a rarity in today's cricket. Even though history says Asif has had the upperhand over Sehwag, I don't think they've played a fair sample to arrive at a definitive conclusion.

In present form, sehwag is likely to come on top against both these bowlers. But each possess different weapons to get him out. Steyn can take him out with searing yorkers or pitched up deliveries swinging into his pads, Asif is much slower through the air and can get banana swing should conditions suit and get him to miscue or nick one, as sehwag usually prefers to have some pace on the ball to work with.

It is hard to say, I would say it just depends on whose day it is. On his day, Sehwag would do what he usually does that is destroy any bowling attack.

I can see Sehwag completkey destroying Asif on a flat track and Asif to return the favour on a semiing one.

Sehwag-Asif 5-5

Steyn Sehwag 6-4(Steyn)

Asif is a pretty ordinary flat track bowlerthough if there is some help he is probably the best currently to exploit it.

I agree with your Asif-Sehwag comment but Steyn-Sehwag should be 6-4 in Sehwag's favour.Sehwag has totally murdered him so far with one triple and 2 100s -one of them when Steyn demolished the others. Sehwag is more vulnerable to the medium pacers like Asif than an a pure fast bowler like Steyn.

Hence my Sehwag > flat track

Actually quite a tough question because at their best, they tend to beat anyone. A couple of years ago, I'd back Asif to castle Sehwag more than Steyn would draw nicks but, well, Sehwag has taken his game to a new and, for the time being, impregnable level.

That said, if the deck had some juice, I'd back Asif in a touch more than Steyn.

I think the question raises some problems. Asif would bowl the right channels to Sehwag but those same channels will almost certainly see a whole heap of boundaries. Sure this could result in a cheap wicket, but it may not get him out at all, almost completely depends on Sehwag on the day. I'd expect Steyn to be able to catch him unawares slightly more often. On a juicy track Asif's good channels become far more unplayable though so everything I said falls apart.

If you consider the very precise weapons/techniques, who has more lethal wicket taking delivery against a batsman like Sehwag. I mean it goes without saying that on an average day, Sehwag will rape fasties on a flat deck...however, there is always a deceptive slower one, or the one that moves in that may get him while he is eyeing the cover boundary....in that sense even on a flat deck, i personally think Asif's bowl that comes back in is probably the best one. Sehwag does not move his feet much when he thrashes the outswingers or off stump line deliveries to the boundary...this almost always leaves a bit of a gap between his bat and pad, Asif is a specialist in nipping the ball back in and this is why i think that on any track Asif will always have a greater chance to get Sehwag then Steyn.....you can very well substitute Shaun Pollock for Asif here...Pollock was the same master class in nipping the ball back in with his wrist..........
