What is first choice India fast bowling attack?

I think people should probably stop talking about Bhuvi in England sadly.

He's going to play a full IPL season and when you look at all his injuries previously I doubt India will want to risk him in the tests as they see him as a limited over specialist. Its annoying because he's clearly good enough for England and his batting would be very useful.

Its probably Bumrah, ishant and Siraj/Shami the frontline pacers.

India badly need famous Krishna and K Tyagi to progress well and progress quick. Shami, Umesh and Ishant have gotten to that stage where they might start stinking the whole joint in concert. Badly need fresh faces too and the cancellation of U19 tournament has not helped at all.

Pace stocks are ok but the selection process does leave a stink. Not sure how Krishna pole-vaulted Saini (presumably injured since Aus) and then Nagarkoti and Mavi who've been talked up since the U19 WC and are certainly more complete bowlers at this stage than either Krishna or Tyagi.

Whatever it takes!!!
I think the simple answer for all 3 of Saini, Nagarkoti and Mavi is question marks on their fitness. Plus I guess they see more potential upside with Krishna than the other 3. I love Nagarkoti and rate him high but surely Krishna has shown enough potential there to see why they will think that.

Oh yeah, I like the look of Krishna too. Felt too premature to rate his prospects during the IPL but it looks like he has filled out a little since. Still very much a work in progress but there's pace and bounce there for sure. Not sure if colored cricket is the right place for the lengths he bowls though.

Bhuvi himself believes he could still be in contention for a test return, so perhaps the selectors haven't fully closed the door yet....?

What he offers with the bat at #9 also shouldn't be underestimated. Or perhaps even at #8 and play four seamers (Bumrah, Bhuvi, Ishant and Siraj/Shami), with Ashwin at #7.

It is a good point. How sustainable are these shared peaks. Thankfully Siraj has come through nicely but will need a few more.

This post is where madness lies! Shami is a brilliant bowler but very different to Bhuvi.
I'd assume India will use at least 4 frontline seamers in England as its a five test series and injuries are bound to happen when you consider how busy India's schedule is.

You can debate who is better out of Shami and Bhuvi, but no argument can be made that Siraj will offer more In England and that's from someone who thinks he is gun.

In ENG, it'd be any combination out of this set, Ishant, Bumrah, Shami, Siraj, Bhuvi, Umesh, Shardul, and Saini. Only Bumrah, injury permitting, is a lock out of those names.

Bumrah & Ishant are lock as of now. Ishant has been gun against lefties due to his seam position. However 3rd pacer must have some batting credentials as well I think as lower order runs matter in England every time. Siraj for me is best 3rd pacer but is a tailender. Bhuvi & Shardul are other options. Shardul was impressive in Gabba & has ability to pitch the ball up & use movement & we know what he can do with the bat. Bhuvi has injury issues so no no for WTC final.. Perhaps England tests.
Shami perhaps least impressive among them all. Just coz he doesn't know how to bowl in England. His back off length bowling is waste there.
