If punter had opened he would have averaged 3.4 like he did in first tour in 2001.No, Ponting averaged 20. Sehwag averaged 9.

Not really, because opening the batting in the subcontient is easier then batting in the middle-order. Facing the pace bowlers is easier then facing the spinners, where Ponting would get a good 20 odd overs to face the pacers in dead conditions. Just ask a pace bowler who has toured in India:If punter had opened he would have averaged 3.4 like he did in first tour in 2001.
This is why hayden averages only 31 in the next 2 tour when he faced both kumble and HarbhajanNot really, because opening the batting in the subcontient is easier then batting in the middle-order. "I played against Sachin Tendulkar in India and England, but over there [in India] you had no chance. The wickets were so placid it was ridiculous." - Devon Malcolm
Never heard a pace bowler say anything like that about Australian pitches, tbh.
Don't you get it? 30-35 is the score that the batsman are on when the spinners come on.This is why hayden averages only 31 in the next 2 tour when he faced both kumble and Harbhajan
Oh really, i remember sehwag scored 42 runs of 21 balls he faced of steyn and Morkel in India. This was only in 6th over.Don't you get it? 30-35 is the score that the batsman are on when the spinners come on.
Lara had so less not outs because of same reason sehwag has so less not out in comparison to hayden. May be because he was more aggresive than sachin and ponting. In the hope to get this thread back: can someone account for the low not-outs Lara had in comparison to Tendulkar and Ponting? Playing that many tests with so few not-outs is not ordinary for such a batsman. Was it technique or a mental thing?
You do know Steyn's average on said placid pitches of India? Didn't really want to post that. Won't post anything in regards to this discussion in this thread again.Yes, on placid pitches. Steyn will destory Sehwag in South Africa, similar to how Pollock & Ntini did back in 2006.
Hayden averages 47 in Sri Lanka and Ponting averages 50 in Sri Lanka against the leading wicket taker of alltime, who is a spin bowler. Surely you must be able to comprehend this?So you agree that both punter and hayden are mediocre player of spin bowling.
Hayden and punter scored runs of fast bowling of SL and got out as soon as they faced spinners.Hayden averages 47 in Sri Lanka and Ponting averages 50 in Sri Lanka against the leading wicket taker of alltime, who is a spin bowler. Surely you must be able to comprehend this?
No they didn't.Hayden and punter scored runs of fast bowling of SL and got out as soon as they faced spinners.
ikki. it could be something to do with the fact that he played for a mediocre team for most of his career. in most of the games featuring him, probably, west indies didn't bat well enough in the first innings for them to declare with lara still at the crease or didnt chase small targets in second innings/or started second innings late enough on the fifth day to force a draw while he was still not out. he, i presume, had to bat every time till he got out whether to save his team from defeat or take them closer to victory on very rare occasions. without checking any record books i already know there is a 400 and a 153 in his six unbeaten innings - that is one third of his overall career. amazing how rarely he saved his wicket in such a long and glittering career. In the hope to get this thread back: can someone account for the low not-outs Lara had in comparison to Tendulkar and Ponting? This surely must be a joke gone horribly wrong.Hayden and punter scored runs of fast bowling of SL and got out as soon as they faced spinners.
What is Steyn's average in India and in the subcontinent? I think it's in the lower 20sYes, on placid pitches. Steyn will destory Sehwag in South Africa, similar to how Pollock & Ntini did back in 2006.
Pics or stfu^ he raped Bhaji, what are you talking about?
I don't think lara would be proud of this record^ he raped Bhaji, what are you talking about?
