Pre-War Cricket Draft

zaremba

Cricketer Of The Year
Damn you, Blakus, that's the 3rd player I had my eye on that you've nicked (the others being Murdoch and Hendren)

Blakus

State Vice-Captain
I was delighted to see that he was still available. I've been watching quality player after quality player get selected, so I was sure he'd be gone by the time I got home from work

I came very close to picking him, but I thought there would be a slightly higher chance of him remaining available for my next pick than Woodfull, so I went for Woodfull.

Woodfull would definitely not have remained for another round. I was eyeing him as my next pick.

Flyonthewall

U19 Captain
Eddie Paynter. Offers variety as a left-hander, and a stunning (albeit brief) test career, especially against the Australians.

Sorry for holding things up, the new draft order only got posted at 1am NZT last night and I haven't been on today until now.

Fantastic attack that. Was eyeing both Turner and Ferris actually but you beat me to the punch on both of them. Still I've got a few decent bowlers myself so I'm not fussed.

Whoops, original pick was Jack Cowie but unfortunately it turns out he doesn't count under my rules, so instead I take Ken Farnes, a genuinely fast bowler of great renown who sadly died very young in WWII. A more-than-able replacement, and him and Larwood should make an exciting new-ball pairing, although there may be concerns about Bodyline!
