Thought this before but Vern's very similar to Asif in terms of what he does with the ball.

Looks alarming the way the footmarks have appeared already from the bowlers follow throughs. Could be very tough to bat on in the 4th innings if the opening hour is anything to go by.

Yeah, and Morkel's done a good job of roughing up the right hander's off side. Bodes well for Swann.

He's also quite similar to Andre Adams, who only got one Test for the might of New Zealand. To be fair to the New Zealand selectors, Adams had the likes of Ian Butler to contend with; hard to get by greats of the game like him.

How many times has Philander been to England? Thought he'd been a couple of times; with the amount of Sky covered games I'm surprised a few of the commentators saying that they hadn't seen him before.

Nasser informing us that Strauss is apparently the only captain in test history who's opened the batting and had to contend with a rain delay in over 130 years of big time cricket.

He played an ODI in England as an all-rounder that just varied his pace hugely every single ball. Hard to believe it's the same player tbf.

Apparently according to cricinfo
Strauss goes and stands next to Trott, fiddling with his field. Trott carries on with his gardening at the crease
Which is a bit strange.
