I think it's entirely plausible that that happens tbh. They obviously trust Carey to the hilt but he's underperformed with the bat; he really didn't make the most of his form this summer.

There's going to be a massive selection squeeze once Green is fit again, there are only so many ways to fit him back into the team.

So England bats just scored 6 ducks in 1st innings vs India, while the bowling attack of Woakes, Carse, Tongue, Stokes and Bashir went for 1014 runs for 16 wkts

...does Ashes prep get any better than this 😀

So does Australia. This'll be the usual England in Aus drubbing, with Pommy supporters assuming the usual position in the ****old chair by day three of the first test to watch all the action, as was predicted on one of their own podcasts just last week.

Why did everyone focus on the bowling, what about the glorious 6 ducks England had in 1st innings 😀

Smith, Head, the lower order and the bowling attack will get this done but I get the feeling that'll be the last Ashes win that they'll taste for a while

If you cast your eye to the future, England won't change much for the next 4 years whereas Aust will be unrecognisable say the next Ashes in England

England are going to play a 2 day game against a PM’s XI before the day/night Test. That game will take place between Sheffield Shield rounds, so might feature a strong PM’s XI, but knowing the dastardly Aussies, it’ll probably feature a load of scrubs

In true England fashion, the only warm-up before the first Test will be a 3-day intra-squad game with the Lions, then the Lions will have 2 FC matches against a Cricket Australia XI (coinciding with the first Test), then Australia A during the second Test. Considering both of those games will also take place during Sheffield Shield rounds, how strong will those teams be?

Recent Aus A teams at the beginning of summer have been plenty strong tbh; not out of some spirit of generosity but because the selectors put a lot of weight on them for future possible selection

Are they going to pull players out of their state teams to play against the England Lions though? Although both games are FC, I presume the Aus A team will be stronger than the CA XI?
