While 336 was a great score on the face of it, we did seem to dot up a bit too often at key moments so it did feel 20-25 short.

what an absolute waste trying to play chapman 6....yet again just too late
Should have given him a few overs yesterday as well, to see what he offers at this point. Not sure why Latham limited himself to bowling 5 bowlers yesterday, when none of them were able to stem the flow of runs.

next game would like to see

ravindra
young (ideally would like to see him at 4 when conway and allen are back)
mitchell
chapman
latham
blundell
neesham
milne
henry
sodhi
tickner

ravindra, neesh, chapman, mitchell sharing 5th bowler overs.

Personally, i would love to see chapman in at 3 or 4 with the kind of form he is in....but young deserves a good run there and mitchell is on fire at 3. Also i'm forcing myself to pick young to open again cuz i just dont see what bowes has to offer. Hmm...maybe chapman ciuld have a case for 6 even though i don't like it, if he can get a couple of those clean hits away like he did in the t20s

Ideally my team 11 if everyone is available

conway
allen
mitchell
young
chapman
phillips/latham
neesham
santner
henry
boult
lockie/sodhi

(Possibly) unpopular opinion but Bowes has more to offer than Ravindra at this point in time, ie during world cup prep. Ravindra is still learning his trade and would be better off spending time in FC cricket, or internationals where there’s nothing at stake.

Neither would make my World Cup squad, but Ravindra is a longer term project player who ideally shouldn’t be on this tour (whether as opener or in this weird allrounder role) while Bowes is doing a passable job as Allen’s stand in - if nothing else NZ are getting a few brisk starts and the odd fifty out of him.

It'de be a bit harsh to drop bowes after backing him for so long when in the past 4 games he's actually started to make runs and reward that backing, no?

I'm fine with Ravindra on tour but we're pissing into the wind trying to put him in the Macewell role, not to mention the Santer role last night lol.

Bowes is making some cameos so I'm fine to let this play out. Either we discover a player or we can move on after this WC prep.

Putrid attack selected by NZ and rightly punished.

Not sure how you could look at an attack in which Rachin was already the fifth bowler and think "yeah we should drop a specialist quick for Neesham"
He realised he had a problem at 6 and 7 and obviously tried to fix that. Except the problem was probably Nicholls. And, after the armageddon, the two things remaining will be c0ckroaches and Nicholls standing at the non-striker's end.
