*Official * Pakistan vs New Zealand 2023

Fakhar outdoing Mitchell second game in a row. Brilliant stuff though could have been different if chances were held.

Mostly gone along expected lines with the bowling attack NZ selected though. Sodhi again just not consistent enough to lead the spin attack, much harder for him without Santner at the other end offering control. He bowled pretty well in the first game though.

Fakhar Zaman still has another 6 years of international cricket left in him, so anything is possible he could make up for the lost years

Rizwan is settling into his role as a finisher. Always had the tools but never got to put it all together as we don't play enough ODIs. Batting looks solid.

Mitchell must be sick scoring tons in both games so far and being on the losing side both times.

Naseem’s been a key difference between the two sides, he’s turned in two excellent bowling performances in what are pretty unforgiving bowling conditions. Everyone else including the spinners are going at 6 an over or more. Rauf’s ability to pick up wickets in addition to the death bowling effort ls has obviously helped too.

darryll mitchell has likely been told he is the no.3 and kw 's replacement....not surprised at all. dude is so mentally tough he can step up in any role...just like the t20wc from 2021 when he opened

knew latham would come good yet again

and wow that bowling lineup of ours looks absolutely toothless...ravindra should be opening the batting instead of young, and instead of being the 5th bowler bowling 10 overs when he's a s***ty spinner, doubt adam milne could have done much here but a step up from other options still

for bowling we really need the likes of boult, southee, santner and even lockie in that wc instead of shipley, ravindra, tickner, phillips

Putrid attack selected by NZ and rightly punished.

Not sure how you could look at an attack in which Rachin was already the fifth bowler and think "yeah we should drop a specialist quick for Neesham"

Fakharball vs Mitchellball pretty rough when we drop Fakhar twice, though I think Pakistan dropped one off Mitchell too. Great hundreds by Mitchell regardless after an average T20 series.

It's already been commented but the balance of NZ's lower order here and last match is awful - combines inability to finish with the bat and weak (or nonexistent in the case of Nicholls) bowling all into one. There may be some truth to the idea that NZ are just putting the ODI WC players and reserves in their best spot and fitting everyone else around them, but it still leaves a side that makes no sense. Especially Rachin's role.

Rest of the squad here is Milne, Blundell, McConchie, Tickner, Lister (or is he injured?). Noone likely to make a huge difference though Milne/Lister worth more chances imo. To improve finishing with the bat I would give Blundell a chance over Nicholls.

Just bring one of the quicks in for Nicholls IMO. Neesham is much better #6/7 than Nicholls.
