*Official* Pakistan v Australia in UAE 2014

We're not talking amazing magic balls though. We're literally talking about the sum total of all the deliveries which have moved off the straight.

You really, really should not be losing a wicket every single time the ball moves off the straight. This pitch will take turn later but until it does there is no excuse for this lot to not put up a decent score.

Dunno I'd be surprised to see over 350 in response. Scoreboard pressure won't help.

nah he's not done yet, when he was up to the stumps to mitch marsh that was high quality.

hasn't had a bad day for ages, it happens
I haven't been that worried about his keeping as it's his batting that has gone to ****

Indian series is a perfect time to blood a new guy just not if it's Wade

a siddle off cutter gripping is worrying to me. reckon it will be more than 4 when pak gets a crack

Doolan dropped for Maxwell, Starc bowling pies, Haddin dropping catches.

Not a good day for Benchmark Pty Ltd.
that joint was wound up. creditors got nothing.

@ social: Haddin's batting has never been much away from home. If you need a guy to rip it up in Aussie then he's your guy but outside Australia he's nerfed. By what, who knows, but it's how it goes.

having said this, when riggins says he's done then he's done
i don't think he's done but he's never been great when there's not bounce in the pitch, both keeping and batting wise.

key example was that horrific india tour where he basically set every byes record there is.

Yeah, this isn't really anything new. Every year Haddin is one of Australia's best players in the home summer - looks and performs like a specialist batsman in the middle and keeps tidily - then on the away tours he averages less than 30, drops catches and lets through a stack of byes.

It's why casual fans are often disproportionately huge fans of Haddin; they don't watch the away tours. (Not saying all Haddin are like this ftr).

I don't really think his place should be threatened until he either carries days like this over to home series or we believe someone like Nev or Whiteman is actually going to offer more than the awesome at home and dire away package that is Haddin. Those days may be approaching but I'd be loath to judge him purely on what he does away from home and stick a fork in him based on that because it's nothing new at all.

Tbf I don't think Haddin has got away with it too often. He got stick when he first started, he got stick in 2011 and he's getting stick now from fans

is mitchell marsh ever likely to be third seamer material? i've seen maybe 5 minutes of him since his under 19 days. if you could get a guy at #7 who can also bowl first change you could put your post-haddin keeper at #8 and just pick whoever is really good at catching. you'll be amazed to hear australian wicket keepers aren't my area but you guys have been umming and ahhing on the forum for years now about picking someone who can bat vs someone who can catch.

i'm becoming a big whiteman fan, nevill is still the man to take over in the immediate future but i think down the track whiteman is a goer

I don't think picking Mitch Marsh as a bowling allrounder is a particularly good idea given Australia's fast bowling stocks.. not to mention the fact that Johnson, Pattinson, Starc and Cummins can all bat anyway (and Harris and Siddle I guess :p).

The best gloveman in the country averages 40 with the bat and has a good technique anyway ftr.

well played Younis. 285/2 ain't shabby at all by Pakistan standards. I can't remember when was the last time I saw Pakistan close to 300 with only 2 wickets down (The last test match doesn't count)
