***Official*** Pakistan in West Indies 2017

That was something special from Gabriel, I wonder what his conversation with Chase is gonna look like.

Overall though, I feel 2 - 1 is more representative of how the series has been compared to 1 - 1, so that's that.

It is not exactly easy for the tail enders. They are not specialists.
The situation itself was obviously not easy but that shot was diabolical. No one would hate on Gabriel if he gets bowled defending, but that was a nothing type of ball and for it to be the last ball he had to face it was a complete brain fart irrespective of his position in the order.

No it is not. You think it is so easy to control your instincts as the ball comes along?
Oh come on! I think it's pretty easy to control my instincts to not go for a mindless slog when it is the last ball I am going to face and the entire fate of the series depends on it.

I mean I know we are hating on a tailender and it looks bad but it's warranted imo. Especially considering the fact that all the other 5 balls that he defended were perfectly rock-solid. I can understand him doing that if he was almost getting out defending in the other balls.

It's okay we can agree to disagree.

I am in love with the late elegance and the way Roston plays his shots.

Heartbreaking...seven balls to save a test and you play a shot like that?

Proud of our boys though...we actually took this match so far.

Thank you Misbah - Younis. Great role-models for young Pakistani crickets. I hope you continue to inspire many more.

Thanks for this series.

Chase is a gonna be a legend.

That's a really heartbroken interview by Chase.. Sad but at least he'll have his time in the sun again unlike the departing greats Misbah and Younis. Over all a happy ending.

Vishaul is someone I hoped might be able to add some solidity to the middle order pretty much straight away based on what he'd done against some high quality opposition in non-Test games (awesome series in Sri Lanka against Sri Lanka A, also scored some runs against Pakistan in the the tour game before this series) and he looked okay against spin but has some serious technical problems against the seamers. I usually like giving players a long run if they've earned their spot on performance as he has, but I wouldn't complain if he was left out from this point; he's looked awful at times.

Hetmyer looks far more talented but very much in the 'not ready' basket. He doesn't seem to know his game very well yet.
There was a very interesting conversation about that between Bishop and Bazid.
Btw Bishop I must say is so knowledgeable about what's going on in West Indies cricket. He was talking about exactly that. Singh has played on slowing pitches in West Indies and he can survive against spinners but it's a Test quality seam attack where he gets found out and Bish went on about the board who throw players under the bus like this instead of giving them enough opportunities to excel at the highest level

Obviously a ludicrous shot from Gabriel and not the first he has played this series. But I think Pakistan deserved the series victory. As I mentioned earlier in the thread, the batting and bowling of the two teams was actually very evenly matched but Pakistan played more sensible cricket at key times, made less foolish mistakes and fielded a lot better than us. So that Gabriel shot was actually a fitting end.

I am not too upset though. Misbah and Younis got an excellent end to their careers and I really like both of them so that's something positive. I can also see the strides we are taking as a test side and it's nice to be moving in a positive direction for once.

Obviously Chase was superb all series, the best batsman on show which is quite something when you're against Misban, Younis and Ali. I also can see Shai Hope's batting coming along, that 90 in the second test was an absolute gem. Holder is developing as a leader and taking wickets now, whilst Gabriel and Joseph are good test fast bowlers. There were negatives though:

- Vishal Singh: Absolutely deserved his chance, he has scored runs in SL, runs in the practice match and at FC level. Unfortunately, he looked so bad against the pacers, you can't take him to England. He'd be eaten alive in those conditions. His fielding was also pretty bad. I think Blackwood has to come back in.

- Shimron Hetmeyer: Didn't get the runs we were hoping for and struggled against Amir. I love watching him bat now and he got enough starts to warrant another series. If Darren Bravo comes back, Hety will need to be 12th man.

- Devendra Bishoo: This might be a little harsh but I thought he was very average in conditions that were tailor made for him. He was outbowled by Chase in this last match. He needs to up his game. Personally, I would pick Cornwall ahead of him, fat or not.

TBH Vishaul Singh was quite vocal in the second Test. Most of WI batsmen would fail against Eng (except for Chase) so that's not like as if Windies have Lara and Chanders in the wings

Blackwood and Braithwaite have decent records against England, admittedly in the Caribbean though. I really wanted to give Vishal a run but he has looked so bad you can't justify leaving Blackwood out for him.

Would be tragically apt for Misbah to end his career with a oh so near yet so close. Gosh I am cruel.
That's what I was thinking when I woke up to 187/8 with a few overs to go. Misbah's luck plus Pakistan's luck with West Indies - memories of Antigua and the stories I read of the 87 series, denied by umpires in both occasions.

Cruel is how you sum up the narrative.

Would any of the WI supporters on here want Gabriel in the side after playing that shot? I know the Board is useless and manages to piss off more than 2/3 of their decent players, but if I was a WI supporter I'd be happy for the selectors to draw a line through his name after that, I don't care what other options they have or how well he bowls. That wasn't just mindless, it was selfish and demonstrated a total lack of regard for his team. Couldn't believe it when I saw it.

It was sad to see how distraught Chase was. When he was asked about his efforts, he said that obviously it was not enough and he should do more. Crazy.
