***Official*** Pakistan in West Indies 2017

We've talked here about how Holder is obviously too low in the order but considering his series so was Chase. I reckon the Windies missed a trick by not having him come in at 3 first thing this morning, a bit like VVS when he went from 6 to 3 when he scored his 281.

Also, glad this Test turned out to be a classic after seeing a plethora of comments on Facebook & Cricinfo on the first few days bemoaning the future of Test cricket because a couple of slow days is apparently going to kill off the format after 140 years. Really annoying trend of people bemoaning Test cricket's future when a match - GASP! - ends in a draw (I've probably done this myself on occasion too).

talk of dropping him is a nonsense. he is their only test standard quick.

you'd be cutting your nose off to spite your own face.

Hasan Ali bowled 222 balls this Test conceding just 55 runs. If Hasan Ali the batsman faced the same number of deliveries and he continued at his current career strike rate, he would have scored 464 runs.

Not sure I've ever seen a career strike rate in Tests of 200 before (209.9).

Disagree with those saying that Gabriel should be dropped, even if it was a contender for worst shot of all time. If a specialist batsman had done this, then I'd say they'd need some pretty serious credit in the bank to avoid being dropped, but Gabriel is in no way whatsoever being selected for his batting, he's being picked purely for his bowling and his returns for the series were 15 wickets at 18.80 so right now he shouldn't be dropped. That's not to say he doesn't deserve a massive bollocking for the shot and he ought to be thoroughly ashamed, embarrassed, mortified and all that, but if you're asked to do a job and you do it well, you shouldn't be unduly punished for failing at something which there is no expectation for you to succeed at.

Tragic story for Chase and Gabriel though. No one is going to talk about how much Gabriel has improved his bowling, now it's all going to be that shot.
True that, hopefully he doesn't let this affect his future bowling performances. The Shannon Gabriel in this test series is the best Shannon Gabriel I have seen so far, and he still has the potential to be better. It's been a great test series though! West Indies and Pakistan have both been brilliant regardless of the result. Still need to improve in places sure, but Holder's team seems to be finally gelling now.

Salute to Misbah and Younis! I'm getting a bad feeling that their absence will affect Pakistan the same way Jayawardene and Sangakkara's retirements did for Sri Lanka.

Was anyone else try watching this on sky? Did they really just turn it off to show highlights of football instead for the final session?!!

Happens all the time.
Football > Cricket in England
Footy/Rugby/MasterChef > Cricket in Australia

Especially if the cricket involves lowly teams and not the Ashes.

Masterchef Australia is better than watching substandard OS cricket for the most part tbh. I'd rather watch some hipster ****head from East Melbourne try to put together a seventeen layer cake than watch Bangladesh battle it out with Namibia. The former is a bigger challenge and of a higher quality. Besides, Masterchef Australia >>>>>>>>> every other Masterchef in the world. It's insanely good. Mrs Burgey was in the Netherlands earlier this year and an old series was even on nightly over there.

Overseas series involving neutral countries are on Fox Sports here. They've expanded their sports channels this year so there is a dedicated NRL channel as well as the pre-existing AFL channel. I'll be interested to see if they have a more fulsome coverage of Pommy cricket now they have the extra channel. ATM the coverage of a weekend is typically something like
Fox 1 - Super Rugby (17 viewers)
Fox 2 - NRL match
Fox 3 - AFL match
Fox Footy - AFL match

And I think there's a Fox extras sports channel now which will hopefully pick up OS cricket matches. In the past we've had this stupid scenario where you have the Otago playing ****ing Cordoba or some **** on live which no one in Australia gives a flying **** about then they switch over to the cricket from the UK at like 11.30 pm for the last session. ****s me to tears.

There are seven Fox Sports channels now. Even excluding the dedicated NRL/AFL channels there are still five 'general' ones, so hopefully that means they'll at least show all the cricket they've bothered buying the rights to. Nothing worse than missing a session here or there even though Fox have the rights because there's a conflict with something else.

Bringing in FOX SPORTS More was for that express purpose. There are no foreseeable scheduling clashes.
