Are there no other options in South African cricket than Loots Bosman? I realise that he is there to meet the quota but still, it's ridiculous how poor he is.

I think its been long enough for Mohammad Hafeez in the team but he has not performed on a consistent enough basis. Also Rana may have gone for alot of runs last match but i feel that he can pull it back it this next match.

I think its been long enough for Mohammad Hafeez in the team but he has not performed on a consistent enough basis. Also Rana may have gone for alot of runs last match but i feel that he can pull it back it this next match.

Azhar at 9 may seem to low but this gives such depth to the Pakistan batting line-up.Even after getting murdered in the last game Rana should still keep his place.The batting line-up can be easily flexible as well.

well with afridi it doesnt matter where u put him. If hes got extreme luck on a given day he will score u a good 30 in 15 odd balls. i am not at all bothered about his batting position. And if he doesnt perform in the coming match/matches with the ball either then never even think of him for the WC, i would then put Hafeez in permenantly.

Azhar is definitely a guy who has been underrated by the selectors for a long time. But I'm not sure how I feel about him coming in as a replacement for the injured Shabbir. His bowling is good, but I'm not sure he could make it into the side for his bowling alone. Also, Pakistan haven't included him in their squad of 30 for the World Cup, and though I'm pretty sure that he can still play in it it would be a big about turn for the Pakistan slectors. Personally, I don't think he'll play in this series unless one of our other allrounders seriously screws up. I would think that getting a good specialist bowler who can keep things tight would have been more useful after the caning we took last match, and I was expecting and sort of hoping for a recall for Iftikhar, but Azhar might not be so bad either.

azhar is the 2nd best death bowler we have available right now
rana is usually good and showed it in the over where he got kemp out.
azhar has been doing it for surrey for years now and cos of him they won 20/20 2004 semi against lancs by 1 run
Yups The intelligent journalists are well equipped with the futuristic vision .So did Osman displayed ,and the gentleman is the only journalist working for cricinfo who gives honest statements and he is not like some other retards from Asia who always blatantly show patriotism in shape of being against the other countries in many hidden sarcastic ways . Anyways Pakistan's WC campaign is not satisfactory tbh !

I think Azhar is very ordinary as a bowler, however as a batsmen he has been criminally wasted by team management.Azhar was such a good batsmen, but was sent at eight or ninth slot, what do you expect from such a person to average when all he has to do is throw his bat around ?
With Afridi/Razzak not in good touch with bat Azhar should be tried and he should be batted at sixth slot.If he comes good with bat and do a so-so job with the ball then Pak should be happy.
I don't expect Azhar and Rao to play in second amatch as they will be arriving just before the match, however if its possible than azhar should be played.

I don't have much faith in Imran Nazir, nor do i think brining back a player after a long team at a time when WC is just around the corner a smart move, it just shows that selectors ran out of ideas for the opening candidates and decided to bring him back in desperation.Salman Butt despite all his faults was still the best bet, and should have been retained, wouldn't be surprised if he is call back for cup if all openers fail in SA.
I think the last 4 ODI in SA will decide Pak fate in WC, if Pak loses all 4 then WC would be a nightmare for Pak , however if they manage to beat SA in 2 matches out of 4, then they will be in good spirits and might do well in WC.

The only reason Azhar is back is his good form with the bat, now why bring him in the team and send him at eight slot to throw his bat around? atleast give him a proper chance with bat, or else don't select him atall.
"crap" , he's got a really good average against us, however when we play the way we have been i dont think there is a better odi team in the world
