This is going to be one of those infuriating days. Should have just stuck to assuming the day would be rained out and so not checking compulsively every 15 minutes to see if anything has changed.

2.05 pm Covers still on the field. The umpires will inspect conditions at 2.45 pm, if it doesn't rain between now and then play could begin at 3.45 pm. A big if though.

Weather forecast looks pretty decent the next 4 days, & with an extra 18 overs a day, they shouldn't lose more than 15 overs in total.

Should just reintroduce a reserve day for where the whole first day is lost to weather.

Seriously though, I imagine the main reason for not having a reserve day would be TV companies not wanting to have the scheduling uncertainty, but a) they all have a bazillion channels now so it shouldn't be hard to work it in, and b) hopefully the future of sport broadcast is more on-demand, so negating that problem.

Can't imagine they were really close to starting at any point today. When it rained, which it did for most of the day here, it really pissed down. There's still a bit of wind around though, so hopefully that'll help with the drying overnight and blow away all this **** weather.

They haven't scheduled any club or school cricket here for Saturday so people can go to the game, which means Saturday will be absolutely glorious, I'm sure. Already had 3/4 games rained off in most grades this season.

Ha, a juiced up green seamer is waiting under those covers apparently. Good test for Raval tommorow morning then
