He’d beast it in England cos all the bats would be collectively ****ting themselves, pitch or otherwise.

It’s also why all those players like 800 years ago who played in about 1-2 countries max simply cannot be considered better than players who proved it in multiple places.

Yes they were only playing what was in front of them, but this is what happens…
So what your saying is Tendulkar>Bradman

Ha! I’m genuinely curious to see how this will go. As long as Jadeja and Ashwin - or even one of them - is fit, there’s no chance Axar gets a look in for touring. But a pretty good chance he’ll play most games at home, so could end up with a ridiculous average.

Looks like NZ fluffed a gilt edged opportunity. Shame, can’t see a way back unless Southee and KJ do a Haze and Cummins imitation job in the first hour tomorrow.
Yes, though with India’s spinners being super accurate you either had to manufacture shots or keep defending and hope for survival. Missed out on targeting the pacers perhaps. Ajaz and Somerville need to emulate the trio at least in keeping it tight, but their rustiness is showing I suppose.

NZ have done well enough to keep themselves in the contest, but that seems academic now. Have to hope the pitch continues to be slow enough to make attrition a possibility. Need more from Taylor and Nicholls on this tour - Taylor’s never been comfortable in these conditions, and Nicholls hasn’t played a convincing knock (without offering chances) in a long time. Young must surely be pushing for a permanent place in the XI now.

Honestly anyone doubting Kane and Taylor aren't in their right mind.

Come second inning they'll be the two you would want batting Iike in wtc finals.
The match is already done and dusted.
The only way NZ could have won this was by scoring runs in first innings and taking a 100 run lead.
Kane and Taylor's runs in second innings won't really have much impact.

On 5 th day this pitch would become very difficult and even though Kane, Latham and Taylor are good player's they won't score much.

We only need 1 draw out of the 2 tests and it's a decent result.
It's just a group stage game, you can afford to have a loss in the group stage and still be contenders for the final.
As world champions-we know it's about peaking at the right time.

If Blundell, Jamieson, and Somerville can last 94, 75, and 52 balls respectively (about 36 overs between them), there is no reason why we still can't draw this.

Plenty of cricket to go still. Can't take the credit away from Latham and Young. They did great and we didn't capitalize. We got to seize the momentum again, couple of early wickets will do that.

Watched Ravindra's inning ball by ball today. Barely tickled the scorers but there's so much promise. Looks pretty chilled out and body language suggests he doesn't seem to care he's playing vs spinning legends in their own backyard. The management has done well to have debutants play with confidence. We barely get to watch Rachin play spin in Wellington. For someone who opens the batting that's quite good. Blocks in front of the pads, plays positively, times the ball brilliantly and oh he bowls well too. He'll get truck load of runs around the world no doubt about that. Playing fast bowling is his usp.

It'll take time for him to make consistent impact but we have a player that's of quality for future.

Seen a lot of cricket over the years. Even highly experienced players looked totally at sea playing in sub continent. Not this upcoming current lot, they're a confident bunch. These guys need good backing and they'll do wonders in future for NZ cricket. Just glad we're not going to have one off couple of good years. Longer Taylor plays and with the likes of Latham, Kane, Guptill, boult, Southee etc around the next bunch of players will make sure we won't fall away.

Ben Sears, Allen, ravindra, Smith etc have very bright future.

295 was a credible batting performance by new Zealand on that deck. Several of our bats got undone by good nuts.
India probably overachieved by about 30 runs in the first inning.
The pitch isn’t a mine field but par was about 300
Or even 270
New Zealand did ok
We also batted long enough that our bowlers will be fresh and ready to fire today
India are in the box seat but still need to be competently perform from here to put this game to bed.
New Zealand’s hopes rest on the man known as Jazzy.

Yeah that missed stumping chamce off Ashwin ended up costing NZ 25 runs which could prove fairly crucial in retrospect.

the match is still even...the indian lineup is clearly pretty brittle and a lollapse is a very realistic scenario...

You’d take 63/1 in the second innings against the world champions. If india can get to about 230, it’ll be a very tough chase on the fifth day.
