Yeah the Plunket Shield would fall somewhere in between the two South African First Class comps in terms of quality. With the stricter targets and mini exodus I'd make the top comp almost down to Plunket Shield level now, really, although it was definitely stronger when Pienaar made those runs.Talking about Obus, no? Admittedly about ~1300 of those runs came in the 3-day comp, but he still has 2000+ for the Knights in the Sunfoil @ 38ish. His bowling never really stepped up beyond the amateur stuff, but hey, it might be sufficiently #engineroom and #agribusiness to pull Wellington out of a hole from time to time.
So did the O'Donnell one, unless Neil has magically found an in-swinger.Man that Duffey dismissal looked really bad.
Yup that's the bloke. Don't reckon he's a mainstream bowler. Heard he took up left arm orthodox after he broke down bowling left arm quick. Firebirds as I'm aware haven't signed up any overseas player this year so should be able to pull up any of these imports from the club if need be. I can certainly see firebirds doing well this season. There's decades of experience through the lineup. It has to count for something. Don't see the name Ben Sears in the club lineup, the lanky lad from the NZ 19s. Meanwhile I hear about the left handed U19 NZ Captain Ravindra all the time. Everyone I speak to in club cricket talks him up like the best thing from wellington for ages, batting and bowling wise. Keeping a close eye on Malcolm Nofal too this year, seems to be a serious batting talent from South Africa.Talking about Obus, no? Lol... you don't rate Hamish? Looks pretty good to me to be honest. There are some serious contenders from most teams for the black caps opening slots this season.Duffy's dismissal (ouch) plus the boundary videos are up, but not Ruds getting out 2nd ball of the match? Is Ken on the controls?
Must have some English heritage in him
Haha nah that post had nothing to do with rating him, just wondered why Pooch (or whatever they call it now) wasn't on. Although no, I'm not a massive fan of his - if ever a guy could be worked out at the highest level, it's him. Ignore the stumps, set a deep forward point/cover if you need to, plenty in the cordon, get it going across him. Bang. Won't score much at all. He's got a good eye etc but his technique outside off stump and inability to leave means he'll never be a Test player on anything other than the roadiest of roads.Lol... you don't rate Hamish? While I'm usually primarily interested in the domestic FC matches rather than ODIs or T20s, NZ is as bad as I can remember at 6/7/8 in the limited overs sides, lacking explosive hitters or even effective nurdlers* to finish off innings. It's usually been a strength for us and it is currently for a lot of the competition. There's Neesham, Anderson and Munro though I'm having a hard time seeing any of them as the main man to finish off the innings. They'll still be around - Neesham at 5 or 6, I wouldn't mind Munro at 6 to see how that goes, or they could order Anderson to just go out at 7 and hit because I cannot stand seeing his massive forearms used to prod and poke at the ball.Who would you pick to bat 7 for NZ in ODIs? Someone younger like Seifert?
Yes, all seems a bit pointless.Anyone else unenthused by Kuggeleijn's continuing run of good performances? Even if he's cleared of the rape charges his actions still have a very unsavoury air, tstl, with no remorse and perhaps no punishment. For entirely selfish reasons I don't really want to have someone I couldn't bring myself to support in the NZ team.
Nah, I wouldn't be supporting the NZ side if he was ever a part of it.Anyone else unenthused by Kuggeleijn's continuing run of good performances?
