I was about to agree but then realised the alternative is likely more advertisements, so it's slightly better than that for me. Will arguably be more interesting if they happen in games where one side is getting battered or if something controversial has actually happened in the first half, but if it's anything like most other sports that do it it'll still be pointless.

I'm not necessarily sure the only alternative would be more adverts tbh. It's not like half time is now any longer than it ever was, and they've always managed to fill it previously.

But I generally find post-match interviews pretty tedious, mainly due to nobody ever actually saying anything and instead just trotting out the standard generic heavily PR-coached responses and cliches (e.g., "we were just missing that bit of quality"). So mid-game interviews, when the only things anyone will ever say are will be variants of "We are doing quite well, but need to make sure our performance doesn't drop off" or "We are not doing well, but need to try and do better" are even more unappealing to me.

I can't be the only person who either turns over or goes and does something else as soon as a h/t or f/t whistle goes? I want nothing to do with interviews or analysis.

Anyway, thought Utd looked far better and I doubt many teams will walk away from OT with 3 points this season, especially if they sign a midfielder and a keeper before the end of Aug.

So from the first weekend we can say that Liverpool can't defend, Arsenal can't score, Chelsea are not good enough and City win the title!!

Sometimes I’ve missed part of the first half and want to see highlights. They already show adverts for as much of half time as is legal, which seems to be longer and longer.

The way the collection of pundits on most channels has become increasingly cliquey and boys club-ish is a further factor which makes me want to switch off as soon as a match has ended tbh. They all seem to have podcasts together too, which seem to just consist of them massaging eachother's egos. I used to find the Neville x Carragher axis rivalry thing entertaining, and used to enjoy Micah Richards, but now I just generally find them all extremely tedious and/or irritating.

I'm pretty much with you on this. And over the weekend we've had Carragher doing the Liverpool game and Neville doing the Man Utd one. I don't mind these two generally, but would make so much more sense to switch them around and keep them away from their home clubs. Carragher in particular is just too much of a fan boy.

United needs to buy douronamma. He is millon times better then onanna and Turkish guy and yes as you said our defense is pretty weak hope slot goes for bastoni instead of chasing isak

Fair points, it may just be because the rights over here are now with a new broadcaster and the amount of advertising vs analysis/replays across the whole coverage has increased significantly. It's only a small thing but at 2 or 3 in the morning it definitely feels like a harder watch when half-time is 90% ads and 10% highlights rather than the other way around. I'd rather be forced to sit through the Kit Kat halftime interview break rather than watch an actual Kit Kat ad, basically.
