Saw a bit of Beer during the T20 semi but obviously having a better look today and the kid does have great dip.

Looks like he's sending down a full toss and the delivery just plummets before it reaches the batter. Definitely deceived Northeast with it there; batsman set himself for a flick to leg and the ball drops under, pinging him straight in front.

Tom Smith gets a ton at a scoring rate of 230 - hopefully Moores might play him in the CC now - probably too late to avoid the drop but at least we might bow out with a roar rather than a whimper

I've seen a lot of batsmen get out playing the reverse sweep recently. Blake of Kent is the latest. That Lancs score is quite eye-catching isn't it! Pity Smith got out when he did, they looked to be on course for 400. Middx and Notts also heading for big totals.

I long for the days when Geraint Jones was an attactive batsman. He was never a particularly good one but he always looked like he could do anything with the bat if he sorted out his shot selection. The last few times I've watched him though his technique has been absolutely rubbish; stays leg side of everything and looks like he'll either snick off playing away from his body or get bowled through the gate any minute.

and he just hit two sixes in a row. i don't know why we bother being critical anymore. always backfires

Yeah, and big totals like that often (or usually) have an intimidatory effect on the opposition. Not very often does the side batting second match the aggression of the side that batted first, it's just too much for them after they have been assaulted in the field in that way.

Lancs, Middx and Notts should all win comfortably - weather permitting.

No result at Worcester after Lancs piled up 324-4 - pretty much sums up their season, doesn't it.

In a match that has rather more riding on it, Yorkshire have made a shaky start in pursuit of 214 against Warks.

I think most of us have always been in agreement that Luke Wright has been very lucky to play as many ODIs as he has for England, especially when he wasn't bowling much/at all, but it really is amazing just how terribly he's performed in domestic one day cricket over his career. He did spend a bit of his earlier career batting way down the order and he does have better numbers over the last season and a half, but 153 games for an average below 25 with just 10 scores of 50 or more is astounding. That's not just underachieving or even just poor; that's downright terrible.

He obviously hits the ball a long way and while his technique isn't Test standard it's definitely pretty good by domestic standards, and that's reflected in his good First Class record I guess, so I always assumed he was just really boundary reliant and struggled to get singles off decent deliveries. Watching him here for 60 odd not out (and counting) though he's played beautifully against some pedestrian but largely accurate bowling; measured and controlled, keeping the run rate ticking - everything I assumed must've been a huge problem for him in building a one day innings. Odd player.

Bizarro game. Kent just completely misread the pitch, it seems. Prior and Wright took the Sharks home at a canter. With ten overs to spare...

Geez, exaggeration much. Has he always been a top order batsman for Sussex in the limited overs stuff?

Lancs were given a soft target under D/L when we set them a good 260 or so to win. Works both ways although I can see why they'd be bloody pissed off. Our team is so dire.

Ravi fails again. Seriously when is the guy going to fail/give up once and for all before we can move on. He's keeping Bairstow out of the team for god's sake, and he's earnt a place.

Not sure we would have been too bothered to be honest, we had already qualified with a home semi

Ballance extending his lead in the sixes league today.

also James Harris is being pursued by Notts.

Full schedule of games starting tomorrow in championship. Hopefully some good weather for the rest of the season should allow a good conclusion to both divisions.

Hmm not a great start from Lancashire, but then it rarely is. I guess they had to bat first given they've picked two spinners. I presume they're praying for a bunsen knowing Durham would be coming and they've loaned out Blackwell.

Saw we were 11-4 and nearly threw all my toys out of the pram and vowed to become a full time southerner - not quite so unhappy now but they really are going to need to do something about the batting if they want to get straight back up next summer
