good on steds for cutting Cook short, though. ;)
It's my supremely dramatic sense of timing.

As for Stedman - if he doesn't play in the World Cup, I'll eat my computer ( :D )

Are you trying to encourage or discourage the selectors to select Stedman when it with that statement? :p

Cricket Web Green v England A
at CWBCC Stadium

A dejected England A side trudged off the CWBCC Stadium following today's rout, as they had simply been outplayed by the better team from the start. Losing the toss, losing most batsmen, and on top of all not taking a single wicket, the tourists were laughed off the pitch - while the Greens celebrated a rare but emphatic victory.

It all started when Vikram Solanki lost the toss, and was inserted by a brave Andrew Garven. It didn't pay off immediately - Cunningham and Goughy conceded some runs - but Key edged to a diving Gundry, and from then on the Green bowlers had the wood on their opponents. It culminated in a spectacular over from Paddy Gundry, in which the leg-spinner claimed Owais Shah (bowled), then Jamie Dalrymple (lbw next ball) and Chris Read (bowled off the inside edge off the final ball). Alex Wharf staged a feeble recovery, slapping 67 including 18 off a Goughy over, but the total of 219 for 8 looked meagre.

Just how meagre was to be revealed a few hours later. James Anderson and Jon Lewis started poorly, straying off line often, and the Green openers feasted. Veterans Malone and Garven both played outstanding innings, and never looked like giving a chance - though England fans claimed Garven was plumb lbw to Lewis on 0. It looked close, but replays suggested the umpire had made the right decision, and Garven certainly made the most of it. Though his rate was always behind Malone, he made an effort to keep up, and despite Solanki throwing eight different bowlers at the pair, they could not be dislodged. With the score on 218 for 0 in the 45th over, Garven tucked the ball behind square for a single - though, instead of going for the match-winning two, he settled by lifting his bat and celebrating his classy 100. Malone got the honours, hitting the winning two to end with 110 not out, and eleven extras made up the total of 221.

England A 219 for 8 (50 overs)
Cricket Web Green 221 for 0 (44.5 overs)
Cricket Web Green won by ten wickets
Man of the Match: Rob Malone

Top draw boys. Awesome chase. It was a thrill to sit on the balcony and watch it.

Shows what we can do next season if we set our minds to it.

Happy with my 2fer inc Key but it was a comprehensive team victory and one that Im proud to have been involved with.

That Goughy/Gundry mix in the wicket taker list is just as confusing as Bennett/Kennett. :p

Good stuff, Green.

Cricket Web A v England A
at CWBCC Stadium

On the back of a magnificent innings from Alex Blackman, and a fine allround performance from Sean Bennett, the hosts prevailed 2-1 in the one-day series to ensure the tour ended on a high note for the CWLand fans. As most one-day matches this May, it was never close, and involved belligerent hitting towards the end.

England A had controversially dropped James Anderson due to lack of form, but the other bowlers failed to impress - after Stuart Broad had James Stedman caught behind for 10, there was little the bowlers could do, as Bennett, Blackman and Towns slashed runs to all corners. Bennett was eventually lbw to Wharf for 81, having shared a stand of 152 with Blackman, and Towns also got a half-century coming in at four. No one else were required to bat, as Blackman and Towns added an unbeaten 144 for the third wicket.

England A started well in pursuit, but was tied down by Warwick and McNamara after the new-ball bowlers had been predictably taken for runs. Warwick claimed captain Solanki, but with Cook and Key in on 164 for 1, things looked tricky. However, McNamara claimed Key, and a little later an inswinger from Cameron undid Owais Shah. Then followed a Sean Bennett-induced collapse. First Cook was caught behind for 80, off 111 balls, and in the next over Bennett delivered a triple wicket maiden. With eight overs left, England A required 117 to win - amazingly, they got 96, thanks to brutal scoring from Ed Joyce (57*) and Alex Wharf (40*), but they still fell well short.

Cricket Web A 311 for 2 (50 overs)
England A 291 for 8 (50 overs)

Great stuff from Sean, Alex and Daniel with the bat, Plenty of wickets for Sean, good economy again from Jack, gotta question why Warwick and Cunningham didn't bowl a few more overs though?
