Moeen probably in pole position for the test side after 8 wickets in this game. Bess the most recent incumbent isn't even in the Somerset team this round, although he has scored 185 for somerset 2s today. Bit of a disaster for Bess' career. Leach has barely played any cricket or taken any wickets to this point - so hard to pick him also. Can't select R|ashid

Well the track at Worcester probably means that you can't play/don't need 2 spinners and Leach is their number 1 spinner so now he is fit he gets picked. It would be funny if Bess keeps his place in the England side but I have a gut feeling they are going to pick Rashid.

Given that the Somerset seamers are blowing Worcs away this morning it's not likely that Leach will get much of a chance in the current match either.

I've always been a big fan of Moeen, I really hope he can put that Aussie tour behind him and get back to the sort of performances he put in last summer for England. It is good to see there is some spin competition for England currently (Moeen, Bess, Leach, maybe talking Rashid back to a red ball and Virdi is impressing too) despite the best efforts of the ECB.

Every time trego plays against middlesex he scores runs. Barber quick but sprays it about too much hasn't much idea where the ball is going to land imo. Will take wickets though

Terrible cricket by lancs. Don't think anyone would have seen Durham being 2nd in the North group at this stage looking at their team.

Well they have Latham and have had Tahir (8 matches) and Stokes (3). If Collingwood can still role back the years, that is basically four high quality Twenty20 players. And whilst not really a T20 guy Rushy is an old county pro.

I couldn't have predicted Trevaskis having the campaign he is having. Exceptional stuff. Pringle is already out of favour so he has a chance to cement himself here, in not just the limited over sides but the county championship also.

Middlesex just seem one of those teams that are terrible at white ball cricket every competition.

They have some good players on the face of it. Stirling, Morgan, Malan, Finn, R Patel, Helm but perform like garbage every year.

Morgan really doesn't help - when was the last time he had a really good domestic competition? Continues to do better at international level. 150 runs @ 18.75 currently in t20 blast. Yesterday 36 off 30, with middlesex chasing 242, he was out at 147-4 after 15.2. Poor.

Pat Brown of Worcestershire having a stellar competition. 22 wickets @ 11.9 avg @ 7.93 econ currently, 5 more wickets than anyone else currently. Look at his recent matches on his cricinfo profile. He's on a run of 9 games where he's taken 2 or 3 wickets and never conceded more than 34 runs. That's pretty rare.

Seems like teams are really struggling to pick his slower balls. Only 19 years old. From what I've seen I don't quite see how his stats have been so good. Maybe not a one season wonder, but I doubt he'll have a run like this again in his career.

Parkinson doing well might mean with can off load 1 or 17 of our other spinners, and get some batsmen in

Some interesting transfers going through in the last couple of weeks. Pillans to Yorkshire. Plunkett to Surrey. Jordan Clark likely to Surrey. Poysden to Yorkshire. Lees to Durham. Norwell to Warwickshire. Yorkshire and others sniffing around Duckett and Gleeson. Suggestion Bairstow may move on.

Since Gillespie has gone from Yorkshire it would seem that the players aren't really improving. Lees has been woeful. Kohler-Cadmore if anything has gone backwards since moving from Worcestershire. Leaning poor. A lot of the England u19s bowler just haven't come through- Warner, Shaw Carver. Likes of Plunkett, Rashid, Bairstow seemingly not happy. Hard to know if it's bad coaching or just a phase that they've got to go through.

Might be the natural tension of when a player becomes a coach, and those relationships have to change. Tough gig...

Sorry if this breaks the current flow.... Just to go back to the structure of the County Championships. But what was the reason to change it from two divisions of nine to the current system. Was there anything wrong reported in the media as I can't really see what the current setup can achieve with exception to more T20 cricket... Which serves no purpose than to make money.
