So Jhye Richardson and Jason Behrendorff are back bowling in Perth grade and should be on track for the Big Bash. Good news

Jhye still can't throw though. Dire news

Daemon's boi Tim David down moving to the Hurricanes, RIP Clive Rose

Still dire that Fox seem to have all the "good" timeslots as exclusive ones. Why can't they have the pure weekday ones?

The bbl isn't too long. Should be played in the winter months too.

But I think the thing that's killed it is the good games going to Foxtel.

What are the rule changes ppl are pissed off about?

also, Bert is apparently going into the Sixers bubble as the expectation is Phillippe will be missing a few games

Introduction of substitutes and bonus points if you lead afte 10 overs.

rule 1 is just chopping the pp from 6 to 4 and then having another 2 over pp thing from the 10 over mark
rule 2 is a substitution rule, but it can only be used after 10 overs of the first innings (I assume in rain affected games it's at the 25% point of the match) and only for a player who has done basically nothing so far in the game
rule 3 is wins are worth 3 points and there's one point for like, first innings points, or something, based on who did better after 10 overs.

all the rules have terrible no good gimmick names

nail meet the hammer tbh

say it with me now, sport should not be paywalled. if you're an english poster and you don't agree with this then lick the boot of BIG TV harder tbh

But think of the money that going on pay-tv will bring that doesn't seem to actually help the sport and somehow makes up for a shrinking audience and shrinking participation...

Aside from cricket in England, what other sports have self-destructed by being on pay TV? Drawing from personal interest, motorcycle racing is definitely one. A few of the American sports are declining in viewership, but I think there's other factors there too.

Union is the big one in Australia. It was genuinely as popular as Rugby League in the 1990s but when it hit pay tv it fell completely off the radar. The only time it even makes the news these days is when a league player defects or there's a world cup on.

Kayo is very affordable
Yes but it's not as accessible as flicking on a tv and leaving it on. It's alright for people who are fans, but for casuals who just want something to watch on a Saturday night, they're not going to flick on the cricket if it means over $20/ month and setting up their Chromecast.

A huge number of people are in the subset of the population who would watch the cricket if it was on but don't care quite enough to get a subscription.
