Jediah Blades hasn't played any T20s before this series? His effort today is something positive for WI to take away at least.
He was very impressive. Not just his figures, but he showed an excellent understanding of his role. He started by pitching up and swinging it. Then he went wide yorkers to limit Owen and Green. Then he pulled his length back to Connely and then he finished with yorkers.

He showed more t20 bowling smarts in his second match then Romario has shown in his entire T20I career. Worth persevering with, for sure.

WI have bowled bad this series, but these are very high scoring conditions and the batting has let them down just as much. The takeaway from this will be the opposite of the Tests. The Test pitches made the batting look worse and the bowling better* whereas here the batting is being made to look better and the bowling worse

*Their batting in tests was bad and bowling good, but not by as much as people think
I agree to an extent because I dont think our T20 batting is that great at the moment, especially without Pooran anymore.

But our red ball bowling has the skills etc required to be great in that we have the guy who swings it more than anyone else according to hawkeye in Seales (not just in the Caribbean, he did in England and Pakistan), two 140 to 145kph bowlers in the Joseph's and a solid enough left arm Spinner in Warrican.

But this white ball attack is full of 80mph seamers who bowl length and then two slow left arm bowlers. Chase is an off spin option but a really poor one. That just doesn't cut it and won't defend totals anywhere.

They're testing the left armer seamer Blades and that looks like it could work. When he's had a rest, Alzarri is an effective 145 kph plus enforcer, so that's a little more variety. But we can't play Shepherd, Holder and Forde together. They need to try a leg Spinner out, especially if they can bowl googlies well against left handers. Unfortunately our two best are teenagers in Motara and Mckenzie, but we might have to bite the bullet and try them.

Aus a great T20 batting unit due to the BBL and IPL experience most of the players have. These two leagues are world class preparation for T20Is.

Starc has been a major reason for Australia being as successful as they have been in all forms of cricket in this generation. I dunno if that alone makes him better than Gillespie but he is in that tier of conversation for sure. Better than Johnson at the very least IMO.
More consistent than Johnson. Johnson's best was obviously devastating and would result in a bunch of wickets, but Starc has better control and is more likely to perform on a given day. All the best Mitch performances you can remember are probably almost all of his good days.

But if you could be guaranteed to get the Ashes 2013 version of Johnson on demand, you'd chew your own arm off to get him in the team over pretty much anyone else.

We need this whitewash.

Whatever happens in the last match, Inglis is my player of the series.
We just went an entire tour losing every friggin toss....during a whiteball series where the team batting second is highly likely to win.

If God were ever sending a message to West Indies management, players and fans, this is surely it.

I don't think the West Indies have ever been blanked 8-0 in a series at home before if they lose again here.

India beat them 7-0 some years back when they won the test series 2-0,T20 series 3-0 and then the ODI series 2-0 (1 washout) to blank them.

Wasn't a home series but fun fact WI got blanked 11-0 in Australia in 2000-01. 5 Tests and 6 ODIs
Wow!

I knew they got hammered 5-0 in the tests under Lara but I never realised it was THAT bad in the ODI's.

The most I ever saw was South Africa in a 7 match ODI series against Sri Lanka from memory being up 6-0 and chasing in the 7th ODI and being in a commanding position midway through the game only to donate a win against Sri Lanka when they threw away their last 7 or so wickets with not that many to chase I think.

I'm guessing that has to be the only 6-0 drubbing to date??

Was going to post earlier that Australia either wins this in about 14 overs or gets bowled out cheaply

Both still possible
If Australia lose this it's because they needlessly went for glory & threw this game away quickly chasing glory to end it.

48 off 64... an absolute doddle.

Push around 1's & 2's and they'll romp in.

Hoicking the bejesus out of the ball is the only thing that can save the Windies.

I don't know why they are playing like this. Did the same in the ODIs v Pakistan last summer and got bowled a couple times in like 30 something overs. Irresponsible tactics

Or at least wait until the game is closely put to bed with 15-20 or so runs to go.

There's still work to be done right now & the set batsman is now gone & left it up to ball-chewer Hardie.
