*Official* Australia Tour of West Indies 2025

When did you last play a test? Australia seems not too long ago and you had probably your best result in a long while drawing there.
7 starters in the victory there not in this squad, tage, mckenzie, athanaze, hodge, da silva, sinclair and roche.

Our last test match was in Pakistan, and it was victorious.

Sammy and Bascombe have informed Kemar Roach that he is not in the West Indies plans going forward.
This is not how you treat a player who has served the team well for so long , not even a farewell , he was so close to 300 test wickets..shame on the board

No one deserves a send off necessarily but I would have played him anyway. Same with JDS
Kemar Roach deserved a send off , his last 6 tests he took 19 wickets @19.32 , all the bowlers in the current test squad don't have Kemar Roach's wicket tally combined

At the Kensington Oval which is where the first test is played , that is Roach's home ground and he averages 18 with the ball at the venue.

Also it would be some good PR which West Indies cricket needs , now people are saying cricketers like Pooran were right to turn their back on West Indies because look at how they just discard players who were loyal.

I don't get why you would completely blacklist a quality player like Roach (similar to England with Anderson). Sure you may not want to select them for every game to try and build for the future and with Roach I can somewhat understand given his recent injury history (compared to Anderson at least) but it seems silly to not at least keep the door open and rotate him in around other players if he's still willing to play and performing well.

Given the likelihood of injuries for fast bowlers it doesn't make sense to not have all your best options available.

I'm definitely no expert on WI's cricket but given some of the bowling options they've rolled out in recent years it's even stranger not to have Roach as an option. I'd have him over Alzarri Joseph any day of the week as long as he's fit.

By rotating veterans like Roach through the side you can prolong their career and give the selectors options. Then you could also plan for his eventual retirement with the respect he deserves. I can't see any advantage in sawing a player off.

Seales, c. Holder and Joseph definitely isn't a weak attack. Alzari maybe the weakest in tests of the 3 but he balances the side by having the highest ceiling of a number 8 with the bat. Roche was more a 9 who could hold up an end well enough. These 3 are also very young so I don't hate the decision although I think the door should not be shut completely

I would have just played him anyway and continued to select him regardless. I just don’t generally agree with the principal that you select players so they can say goodbye

We have been okay with taking 20 wickets in the last few years. It’s our batting that always lets us down

I could understand if they were carrying him, but he done well by his away standards on the Pakistan tour and his home form, particularly at the Kensington Oval (7 tests, 32 wkts @ 18.56) shows he is as good as any option available.
